Restaurants & Tavernas
• Restaurant Esperides – about 1.8 km from the Villa on the coast road between “five corners” and Avithos beach. Good food, great service and more elegant than a taverna.
• Restaurant Preview – about 1.5 km at Avithos beach. Good food and good views.
• Taverna To Enetiko – about 1.5 km at Avithos beach. Good food.
• Lucky Strike Café – about 2.1 km from the Villa on road heading down from Kaligata. Café/bar with pool and internet.
• Marina’s Café – in Kourkoumelata. About 1.1 km walk (20 minutes) or 2.1 km drive. Light meals, drinks, cakes, ice cream and superb views.
• Spiro's Taverna - about 2.3 km just north of "five corners" towards the airport.
• Muses Restaurant – about 2.4 km, 300m towards the sea from “five corners”.
• Kath Odon souvlaki & gyros – up the hill to Metaxata. Inexepnsive and simple gyros
Beaches
Near the Villa
South to north
• Paliolinos – the next beach south of Avithos. Long walk from Avithos or drive through Klismata. Small beach with no facilities.
• Avithos Beach – the nearest beach about 1.4 km walk (20 minutes there, 25 minutes back) or five minute drive. It has a restaurant, taverna, snack bar, facilities, lounger rental and lifeguard. One of the best beaches on the island.
• Megli Petra Beach –the next beach north of Avithos. Less crowded and nice. Walk from Avithos. No facilities.
• Ai Helis Beach – great beach with dark sand and lots of facilities including loungers, snacks, and boat rental. Drive towards the sea from “five corners” and follow signs.
• Ammes Beach – north of Ai Helis Beach. Follow the signs past Ai Helis to get there.
• Eglina – small beach near airport.
• Megali Ammes – small beach near airport.
• Minies – beach with facilities at end of runway. Occasional noise from airplanes but very calm and shallow water.
Other Beaches
• Xi – red sand beach at the foot of the Lixouri peninsula with tavernas, water sports and facilities.
• Myrtos Beach – beautiful white beach between steep cliffs, south of Assos.
• Makris Yialos – in Lassi with facilities and water sports.
• Platis Yialos – in Lassi with facilities and water sports.
• Skala – long sandy beach at south of island close to village with water sports available.
• Agios Thomas – small sandy beach in Karavados. Near excellent fish taverna.
• Antisamos Beach – pebble beach near the port of Sami where they shot scenes for the movie “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.”
Island Excursions
• Mount Aenos – highest point on the island at 1628 metres with great views. Access from Argostoli–Sami road.
• Drogarati Cave – on the way to Sami.
• Melissani Cave – near Sami with boat tours.

Ferry to Lixouri
Shopping district and main square, lots of restaurants.
• Fiskardo – pretty village not harmed by the earthquake. Also has ferry to Lefkas.
• Assos – charming village below a Venetian fortress on a peninsula.
• Kastro Agios Georgios – medieval fortress not far from the Villa.
• Agios Gerassimos monastery near the village of Valsamata.
• Robolos winery, near the Agios Gerassimos monastery, where there is a display and shop.
Excursions Further Afield
• Olympia - take a ferry from Poros to Kyllini on the Peloponnese. This is an amazing place and is the site of the first Olympic games.
• Zakynthos - also known as Zante. Take a ferry from Pesada.
• Ithaca - the nearest island. Take a ferry from Sami or Fiskardo.
• Lefkada - take a ferry from Fiskardo.
• Delphi - this is a longer trip to another wonderful historical site. Take a ferry to Patras then drive across the new bridge and through the mountains.
